In the beginning was the idea. It came from the cooperation with the Spiegel publishing house. The editorial offices in Hamburg know from daily experience about the power of visual impressions. "Pictures say more than a thousand words" - that is more than just a saying there, it is a proven fact from many decades of journalistic work.
A central, online-supported administration and distribution platform for all kinds of image data - that's it. Never again should even the most seemingly insignificant snapshot be lost and untraceable because no one has sorted it properly. A handful of like-minded people found a new company in Dortmund. The name is as figurative as the business itself: Pixelboxx.
A lot has happened since...

A lot has happened since then... Photo content has conquered the world, see Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and many more. The world is changing rapidly, topics like Big Data and Fast Data are becoming more and more relevant to stay competitive in the market.
Given the individual complexity of companies, off-the-shelf solutions are of limited help, which is why we at pixelboxx have developed databoxx.

Find any image using AI-powered image search - add any filters you want. The defined search queries allow you to limit the result set and thus always find exactly the right images.
Faceting
Get inspired by faceting - simply use the automatically generated facets to find your desired asset.
Supported file formats
Pixelboxx supports all common file formats, such as images, videos, and automatically generates previews for these media.
The analysis is based on a spectrum of several hundred individual criteria from the following four main areas. The individual assessments are systematically aggregated in order to be able to use them as a reproducible and transparent basis for selection procedures.
Some highlights
Video:
Through a partnership with Arvato, Pixelboxx offers broadcasting-level video functions that leave hardly anything to be desired: Thus, all relevant video formats incl. preview can be stored in Pixelboxx. During import, videos can be checked for minimum requirements (size, resolution, color space, aspect ratio, file format, etc.) and relevant properties extracted for asset search. Even spoken text is indexed....
Freshly renovated:
Not only the user interface was refreshed, also the backend was modernized. It is now based on Docker & Kubernetes clusters and is therefore cloud-ready. However, on premise is still supported. The optional desktop connection is now done via CI Hub.
User-friendliness:
Pixelboxx offers a modern user interface in Google Material Design and is thus pleasant to use. Casual users therefore do not need to be trained, as the application behaves as users have learned on the web. The UI is very uncluttered - only a few controls interfere with the focus on assets. Searching is greatly facilitated by real facets....
Integration made easy:
The new asset picker can be integrated into web content management systems, such as Typo3, Magnolia, FirstSpirit, etc., with little effort. The Asset Picker offers almost all search and navigation options ("mapping"). This makes it very easy to incorporate assets into websites. Other systems can also be connected with the Asset Picker, e.g. PIM, MDM and others....
Product affinity:
Although Pixelboxx also feels comfortable in usecases beyond product master data, extensive experience from various PIM integrations is available. Not only have integrations with various manufacturers been carried out - the integration strategies are also varied: whether asset picker in the PIM UI, query of product data during asset import or the PIM-triggered creation of the article structure...
Artificial Intelligence:
Unlike many other manufacturers, Pixelboxx does not rely solely on external services for auto- tagging, but offers an internal service. The resulting improved data transmission behavior has a positive effect on data protection aspects. Likewise, customer-specific products can be taught - this is where generally available services often fail.
Large environments:
By using distributed application servers, Pixelboxx also supports large and globally distributed scenarios. On-site satellites take over the actual application server task and report to a central application server that functions as a global registry. For horizontal scaling, components can be offloaded to separate servers or are clustered themselves. capable, Microservice architecture however at present is not given...
